Everyday I am pickling!
Never crossed my mind to pickle apples!
Got this trick and recipe from the Trck website, who did a piece on Vinegar Hill House.
Apples, check... water check, ACV check, sugar check... thats what makes picking to easy and fun!
You probably already have everything in house!
Pickled Apples
recipe from: Vinegar Hill House on Trnk
recipe type: to snack, to serve on the side, to lunch
cuisine: glutenfree, fermented, pickled,
what you need:
2 Fuji apples / I used jonagold apples, as the were in season
1 cup apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup sugar / I used coconut sugar
1 tb salt
what to do:
In a small pot, bring vinegar, water, sugar, and salt to a boil. Cool in metal bowl submerged in ice, or in the refrigerator.
Peel apples, remove cores, slice to desired thickness, and place immediately in cold pickling liquid. Let stand for at least one hour before serving, but preferably done the night before.
